Why painters choose Artsy Moon

Whimsical Paintings

Cheerful characters and cozy scenes, inspired by years of picture books, fairy tales, and a love of nature.

Step-by-Step Instruction

Instead of trying to figure it out on your own, you can follow along, layer by layer until you're happy with the result.

Door Hanger and Canvas Options

Many designs come in both versions, so you can paint whichever fits your home, your gift list, or your paint party.

Does this sound like you?

"I'm not artistic. I can barely draw a stick figure."

"I already paint. I just need fresh designs and someone to keep learning from."

"I never know what to paint, and by the time I figure it out, the evening's gone."

"I don't have time for one more thing."

"It feels silly to spend money on myself."

I've heard every one of these. I've said a couple of them myself.

So I built the Artsy Moon Paint Club to answer them, one by one.

So the evening goes by and you don't paint. Then it's a month.

Pick a design. Print the tracer. Start painting.

  • A step-by-step video where I paint it with you
  •  Tracers already sized for canvas and door hangers
  •  Photo instructions to prop up next to your canvas
  •  A supply list and reference photos

200+ designs are waiting, and I add at least two new ones every month. If your paints are easy to get to, you can be painting in about ten minutes.

Even on a busy week, there’s something fun waiting for you when you’re ready.

Holiday favorites waiting in the library

Many designs come in both door hanger and canvas versions.

"It's so easy to just scroll through and look at all of the painting options, then easily select one and everything is right there. So easy peasy!"

Jodie B

"You don't need to resize any tracer and the step by step instructions are there. This is important for me as I don't have time in general to do them myself."

All you need is someone to show you the order.

I break each painting into small steps, in order, and tell you why each one matters. Years of working with kids taught me how to do that, and it works just as well for grown-ups.

New to painting?

Start with Painting 101: The Basics. Short lessons on tracers, gesso, brushes, paints, and why underpainting makes such a difference.

"Wow, what a difference!

My shading, blending, and my confidence are different.

I feel more at ease with my paintings and I’m also showing them off more."

You can follow the tutorial just as shown or you change it up. Swap the colors. Change the background. Do what makes you happy!

You'll learn something new with  every design.

One painting, layer by layer

This is how every Artsy Moon painting comes together.

1. The Underpainting

Many of our paintings include an underpainting because layers add magic and depth.

2. Building the Layers

Little by little, the painting starts to take shape, and we encourage you not to give up, even during the messy middle.

3. Layers that make colors pop - Adding the Magic

Highlights, shadows, and sparkle! It all comes together in the end with all the special touches that make your painting shine.

You need less time than you think.

Most designs take one to three hours, and you can split that across a few evenings. Pause me, rewind me, put the lids on your paint, and come back tomorrow. Everything stays in the library while you're a member, so you can't fall behind.

But here's the part that took me a long time to believe. An hour where nobody needs anything from you does more than it looks like it does. You come back to everything else steadier and calmer.

And you get a wonderful community, too!

Finishing a painting alone at nine at night is lovely. But then you're standing there holding it, and the people in your house say 'nice' and go back to what they were doing.

Painting friends to ask

Post a photo in our private group and ask for help. Somebody has painted that exact design. Fellow members, my team and I are in there with ideas, rescues, and cheering you on.

I Want to Join the Club

You teach the party. I'll handle what to paint next month.

About one in five of our members uses these designs in their own business.

Every design comes party-ready: sized tracers, photo instructions for the tables, a supply list for prepping, and a video to practice from. As a member, you can teach these designs at in-person paint parties and sell the art you make.

One paint party could cover your whole year of membership.

Usage & Rights Guidelines

"They're my favorite options to offer at paint parties, and typically get picked by my painters 3 to 1."

Meet your teacher

Hi! I'm Karen!

I'm the artist and teacher behind Over the Artsy Moon. I spent years as a school librarian and art teacher, surrounded by picture books and working with kids. That storybook feeling found its way into my paintings, and it's still hard to separate my art from it.

I never took art in high school or college because I was scared I would be bad at it. Then one winter driving through the Smoky Mountains, I told my aunt I could see purple and blue in the bare trees, and she said I had an artistic eye. That was the first time I wondered if maybe I could be an artist after all. So in my forties, I started going to paint nights, and I fell in love with painting. I wanted to know why each step worked, so I took art classes. Little by little, I went from art student to teaching art at my elementary school.

I've taught thousands of students over the years and learned how to break things down into easy-to-follow steps. So when you wonder whether you can do this, I know exactly how that feels.

Two new designs every month, plus 200+ waiting in the library for $37.

Paint once a week or once a month, whatever fits your life. Everything stays in the library while you’re a member, so there’s no falling behind.

Is it okay to spend this on yourself? I think so. You spend all day taking care of everyone else.

"The price is reasonable and the teacher is awesome! I have painted with so many out there and it always takes me forever to do a painting, but in this club she makes it so easy to follow and learn."

Still on the fence?

Hey there,

If you've felt that creative tug, I hope you'll listen to it. Painting gives you an hour that belongs to you, where nobody needs anything and you get to make something beautiful just because you feel like it.

One painting will surprise you. But it's the next one, and the one after that, where something really changes. Little by little, you stop wondering whether you can do this and start deciding what you want to make.

I'd love to have you paint with us.
